Functional Assessment is a continuous, cooperative process that combines observing, asking meaningful questions, listening to family stories, and analyzing the individual child's skills and behaviors within naturally occurring everyday routines and activities across multiple settings. This assessment helps identify the child’s unique strengths and needs. Since each individual with autism is different and has uneven functioning skills, Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) are developed based on the results of the functional assessment.
Functional Assessment (FBA) identifies the purpose of challenging behaviors by observing the individual, collecting data, and determining triggers, consequences, and underlying causes. It helps in creating effective intervention plans.
The goal is to improve the individual’s quality of life by addressing challenging behaviors and promoting positive growth.
Developed from FBA, this plan outlines strategies to prevent challenging behaviors, teach alternative behaviors, and reinforce positive behaviors.
We use structured reinforcement techniques like Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Teaching (NET) to develop skills.
We focus on teaching new skills, preventing problem behaviors, and encouraging positive interactions.
We help children manage sensory processing challenges through structured activities.
We use role-playing and group activities to develop communication and social interaction skills.
We enhance verbal and non-verbal communication skills through personalized speech and language support.
We actively involve caregivers by training them to implement strategies at home and in the community. This ensures that children receive consistent support across different environments.
Regular reviews are conducted to assess the effectiveness of interventions. Based on progress, necessary adjustments are made to optimize the child’s development.
Parents play a crucial role by observing therapy sessions and applying learned strategies at home. Their involvement helps reinforce progress and ensures continuity in the child’s learning.
CFA is more than a service provider—it is a movement for self-improvement within the autism community. We foster a dynamic partnership between parents and practitioners to create meaningful, lasting change.
